Greetings, In looking around a little, I found a great resource for the position of Support Arms. Complete with pictures and all that good stuff. It's a PDF file you can find here > www.padenfull.com/CWDocs/supportarms.pdfWith Greatest Respect, Pvt. Alexander

The problem with his view point is exactly that...his view, the pictures are all frontal and do not show what the angle of the rifle would be,also nothing in Caseys instructions to indicate the rifle should be perpendicular(man I need spell check)as 1st sgt. for the 4th Michigan'C' I do my best to get it right myself and then teach it correctly so that we do not have to change the way we do things.I think nothing exasperates a renactor more then being constantly told"OH, thats the OLD way, we do it this way now"most of the men only do this a few days a month and their is a lot to try to remember,so I try to get it right the first time and only a direct order from the CO will get me to change it.d**n but I do ramble ....enough the great mellon

In all seriousness, that article was written by the B'Boys Comapny and the Liberty rifles, and i know they are one of the most acurate mess's around. But like i have said before the best way to learn is to use the actual manual and interpret the commands as they would have. The manuals are vague, so CO's and NCO's would have to interpret as we do.
