So if you are new to our ranks welcome aboard. Here is the basic uniform regulations. The jacket should be a Type II or Type III light gray jean cloth jacket. (to see the difference between a Type II or Type III jacket please see the article in Military research The Confederate Unif.:Myth of the ragged rebel) Trouser should be of the same light gray jean cloth as the Jacket. Black leathers (belt,cartridge box, cap box and bayonet scabbard). A white Confederate issue or a tarred black Federal issue haversack. Black brogans (shoes). A belt buckle, which can be a number of different types, A lot of our guys wear Louisiana buckles,even though they were issued up untill 1862 the LA Buckle is a little over represented, the most common Louisiana Belt buckle was the Fork Tongue Buckle i566.photobucket.com/albums/ss101/GroundSleeper/forktoungebuckle.jpgOther acceptable buckles would be, an oval CS plate, snake buckle,Georgia Frame or the very common basic roller buckle. A Cotton shirt either Federal issue or home spun civilian shirts. A light gray jean cloth Confederate kepi or civilian slouch,bee hive,pork pie or bowler hat. The musket should be a three band Springfield or Enfield with proper bayonet. Canteen should be a bulls eye with cloth covering or wooden canteen with a canvas,cotton or leather strap with a hemp string for the cork.
